The participant’s journey: what two days filled with innovation look like
Ohrid TechAthlon 2026 is not an ordinary event where you just listen to lectures and go home. It is a journey – structured in three phases, each designed to move you from a passive observer to an active creator.
Phase 1: Learn
The first phase is dedicated to acquiring knowledge and skills. This is achieved through:
- Workshops – practical sessions led by industry experts
- Flash talks – short, focused presentations on the latest trends
- Panel discussions – conversations with industry leaders
The goal is for participants to master the necessary skills before applying them to a real challenge. This is crucial, because the event is not about passive listening – it is about active building.
Phase 2: Build – Ideathlon
The second phase, called Ideathlon, is where theory becomes practice. Participants:
- Form teams with other participants
- Define a problem related to the chosen topic
- Turn their concept into a real project
All of this happens with mentors by their side – experienced professionals who guide the teams through the process. Ideathlon is designed as a competition with the character of a mini-contest that combines thematic workshops with practical challenges. The best projects receive recognition, awards, and – most importantly – a chance to move on to the second phase: the Tech Hackathon.
Phase 3: Compete – Tech Hackathon
The third and final phase is a 24-hour sprint designed to turn ideas from concept into reality. This is an intensive challenge of design, coding, and agile development where:
- Ambitious entrepreneurs, developers, designers, and creators present their ideas
- Form teams and validate their concepts
- Build business prototypes within 24 hours
The winning teams receive:
- Cash prizes
- Sponsor packages
- Fast track into partner accelerator programs
What connects the phases?
What makes Ohrid TechAthlon unique is the continuity. Each phase naturally leads to the next. The knowledge from the Learn phase is applied in Build, and the results from Build are tested in Compete. This is not an event where things happen in isolation. It is a roadmap – structured but flexible, designed to get the maximum out of every participant.
