Ohrid TechAthlon builds on more than a decade of startup and tech community events in Ohrid — a city that since 2013 has hosted over 200 gatherings, hackathons and conferences, including Codefest Tech Festival, Startup Weekend Ohrid and Game Jam+, bringing together thousands of young innovators from Macedonia and the region.
This year, in Fall 2026, the first edition of Ohrid TechAthlon will be held on the premises of the University of Information Science and Technology “St. Paul the Apostle”, where young people will have the opportunity to gain new knowledge, sharpen their skills through workshops and challenges, and build networks that lead to founding startup companies in Macedonia.
For the implementation of Ohrid TechAthlon 2026, we need support and help from socially responsible companies. For TechAthlon to be a successful event and to support young people in learning, building and launching their first startups, we need sponsors with whom we will meet all the needs of the participants during the two-day event.
To ignite the next generation of Ohrid’s tech and startup talent by compressing the journey from knowledge to first business idea into a single, high-energy day(s) — proving that entrepreneurship in Macedonia starts with one good idea, one team, and one/two days of focused work.
The event directly serves OTC’s mission: empowering individuals, startups, and companies to thrive in a fast-changing digital world through education, networking, and resources — and reinforces its four pillars: innovation as an economic catalyst, collaboration over competition, tech talent development as a regional priority, and digital transformation for all industries.
Ohrid Techathlon brings together students, educators, industry leaders, and policymakers to deliberate on future-ready skills, innovation, sustainable technology, industry-academia collaboration, startup creation and business development. The event features panel discussions, workshops, challenges and competitions that generated actionable insights for Ohrid’s and regional skilling and innovation ecosystem.
